Emergency Care Attendant
About the Role
St John Ambulance (SJA) work in partnership with the neonatal unit at Princess Anne hospital in Southampton. We provide a 24/7 vehicle and blue light ECA and the hospital provide the clinical staff to care for the baby.
As an Emergency Care Attendant you will provide non clinical support to the hospital staff and the family, to plan routes and timings (including to and from the Isle of Wight) and to provide a smooth and timely response drive of the specialist C1 vehicle in both emergency and non emergency situations.
When working with more junior team members, you will act as the senior team member and maintain clinical responsibility for the Ambulance, patients and crew.

You must have a minimum of two years driving experience, and hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of six penalty points. You should have a C1 driving licence to be able to drive St John vehicles.
You will be working with patients who could be vulnerable or experiencing trauma, so you must be compassionate and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, as well as, being able to work as part of a team.
Due to the nature of this role, if successful, you will be subject to enhanced DBS checks.
