Head injuries - resources and lesson plans

This lesson plan helps students to learn some basic first aid in a situation where someone has received a minor or serious head injury.

Lesson overview – head injuries

This first aid teaching module helps your students to understand the signs and symptoms of a minor or serious head injury.

By the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

  • • recognise the signs and symptoms of concussion, and know how to treat it
  • • recognise the signs and symptoms of compression, and be able to give initial first aid treatment to someone suffering from compression
  • • recognise and be able to give initial first aid treatment to someone with a skull fracture.

The lesson plan includes suggested activities.
