Our fundraising promise

At St John Ambulance, we take care to ensure all our fundraising activity reflects our values as an organisation. We take real pride in what we do, we treat others with compassion and respect, and we continuously learn and improve to keep our standards high. Our fundraising promise is a code of conduct which we abide to in all of our fundraising activity.

We are committed to high standards

  • • We do all we can to ensure that our fundraisers, volunteers and fundraising agencies comply with this promise
  • • We comply with laws which govern, amongst other things, data protection, health and safety and the environment

We are honest and open

  • • We tell the truth and do not exaggerate
  • • We answer all reasonable questions about our fundraising activities and costs. Please contact us at or see our Annual Report for further details

We are clear

  • • We are clear about who we are, what we do and how your donation is used
  • • Where we have a promotional agreement with a commercial company, we make clear what the financial contribution to St John Ambulance is
  • • We give a clear explanation of how to make a donation and amend or cancel a direct debit – please see our make a donation page for this information

We are respectful

  • • We respect the rights, dignity and privacy of our supporters and beneficiaries
  • • We will not put undue pressure on you to make a donation
  • • If you do not want to give or wish to stop giving, we will respect your decision
  • • If you tell us you do not want to be contacted in a certain way we will honour that request

We are fair and reasonable

  • • We take care not to use any images or words that cause unjustifiable distress or offence
  • • We take care not to cause unreasonable nuisance or disruption

We are accountable

  • • If you are unhappy with anything we’ve done while fundraising, you can contact us to make a complaint – please see our complaints procedure.
