About the Role
As an Emergency Care Attendant at St John Ambulance, you will provide a high level of care, compassion and professionalism while responding to a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations including medical emergencies, inter-hospital transfers and urgent hospital admissions. You will be responsible for assessing, transporting and attending to patients whilst ensuring that they receive high-quality care including driving ambulances in a safe and controlled way.
You will ensure that you take all relevant information from the patient, carers or others at the scene, to ensure the best possible care for the patient including being vigilant to ensure that you are aware of the patient’s social and environmental condition, this includes reporting to healthcare professionals, hospitals or others as required whilst ensuring patient confidentiality is maintained.
When working with more junior team members, you will act as the senior team member and maintain clinical responsibility for the Ambulance, patients and crew.
Please note that the salary shown is the probation rate, following probation the salary will rise to £22,500.

About You
You must have a minimum of two years driving experience, and hold a full UK driving licence with a maximum of six penalty points.
Candidates must also hold a C1 entitlement on their driving licence and hold a Blue Light qualification.
You will be working with patients who could be vulnerable or experiencing trauma, so you must be compassionate and have the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, as well as, being able to work as part of a team.
Due to the nature of this role, if successful, you will be subject to enhanced DBS checks.
