St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response, Falls response, Night Time Economy and Homelessness outreach) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). There is also a buoyant social enterprise network which delivers first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.
Job Summary
The postholder is responsible for designing the technical architecture of all our systems and cloud infrastructure and ensuring alignment to the charity’s technology roadmap and principles working together with another solution architect. They develop and maintain the solution architecture aligned to the strategy and business goals, taking individual project scope and requirements to build relevant solutions underpinned by a common data model and working in conjunction with the key stakeholders across the charity. They take a lead on stakeholder engagement and hold a robust understanding of all the operations and activities that the charity carries out.
About You
To be successful in this role, you’d hold appropriate industry standard qualifications e.g. TOGAF, ITIL or experience of delivering Solutions level Architecture to ensure the best use of data, ideally in the context of handling legacy systems and Ability to communicate effectively at all levels with excellent stakeholder management
About the Role
- Lead product design in terms of technology, ensuring all stakeholders understand the solution design and that technical decisions are effectively and clearly communicated both within DDAT and to business stakeholders
- Lead and own the technical roadmap together with our second Solution Architect, which includes security, platforms and technical stacks, ensuring alignment with the overall technical strategy, business operations and associated processes
- Responsible for ensuring technical architecture translates into programme delivery with regards to solutions with a significant technology element. Support new technology solution and change roll-outs including consultation with stakeholders and communication with affected parties and the rest of the organisation as necessary.
- Work closely with Product Owners to gain a solid understanding of each of the products to be delivered
- Work to a DevOps methodology within assigned squads under the direction of the Product Owner
