First aid at work requalification

The first aid at work requalification training course updates the first aid skills of those who need to renew their First Aid at work certificate.

The HSE strongly recommends that you requalify within a month of your certificate expiring.

Who should attend?

This course is for people wishing to renew a valid First aid at work certificate.

What you will learn

The course aims to update and refresh your knowledge of the First aid at work syllabus, while allowing time for revision and practice sessions in preparation for a written assessment.

Course content

This course covers the contents of the three-day First aid at work course in two days. Students will requalify for the three-day course.

Course duration

Two days.

Assessment

Previously, students who attended our first aid courses needed to pass a final practical assessment. This has been replaced with continuous observation by the trainer and written assessments.

Candidates need a basic command of English (defined as Level 2). Whilst we are often able to provide support to people who for example do not have English as a first language, our ability to do so is limited by the time available and the number of people who require assistance. Although we may be able to make special arrangements if requested in advance. Please contact us if you need any guidance.

Certification

Successful candidates receive a St John Ambulance certificate, valid for three years.

Northern Ireland

Emergency first aid at work and First aid at work courses delivered in Northern Ireland are assessed using a final assessment of three practical scenarios. More information is provided in your joining instructions.
